ECPAT Sweden is a non-profit organisation working to prevent the commercial sexual exploitation of children, i.e. trafficking of children for sexual purposes within Sweden’s borders and to Sweden (human trafficking), documented sexual abuse of children (child pornography) and commercial sexual exploitation of children in conjunction with travel (child sex tourism).
ECPAT Sweden forms part of an international network represented in over 75 countries with its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand (www.ecpat.net). ECPAT stands for "End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes."
ECPAT Sweden launched its web-based hotline in March 2005 where members of the public can anonymously report suspected child sexual abuse material (child pornography), trafficking of children for sexual purposes, travelling child sex offenders and grooming. Tips sent to the ECPAT Hotline are sorted and anonymously forwarded to the National Bureau of Investigation at the Swedish Police or Swedish Internet Service Providers.
